PIERCE, Neb. (KTIV/US92) - A Pierce, Nebraska man facing manslaughter charges related to the 2011 shooting death of a Norfolk teen made his first appearance in court Wednesday morning.

23-year-old Daniel Hofmann made his initial court appearance to face four felony counts related to the death of 18-year-old Wesley Kuester.

Kuester was shot with a shotgun while visiting friends in Pierce in April of 2011.

Initially, his death was determined to be self-inflicted, but prosecutors say subsequent investigation implicated Hofmann in the shooting.

He was arrested last Thursday.

In court Wednesday, Judge Ross Stoffer granted Hofmann's request to delay his arraignment in order to find an attorney.

His arraignment is now schedule for April 30.
