SIOUX CITY (KTIV) - A woman wanted in a fatal hit-and-run accident on Floyd Boulevard in Sioux City in 2012 has turned herself in and is now charged with vehicular homicide.

Victoria Ernst, 43, of Le Mars, Iowa posted $75,000 bail and was released from the Woodbury County Jail late Tuesday afternoon.

She is also charged with leaving the scene of an accident.

In September of 2012, Lance Knudsen, 22, was struck as he crossed Floyd Boulevard, by a vehicle that fled the scene.Knudsen was found lying in the street and later died.

After the incident, police connected Ernst's sport utility vehicle to the crime and eventually, police say they determined that it was Enrst who was driving.

Ernst initially told police she had walked home that night, but court documents say she eventually admitted to authorities that she had been drinking.

The victim's mother, Michelle De Cora, has filed a negligence lawsuit against Ernst.

She is seeking compensation for funeral expense, lost income and loss of companionship.
