Sioux City city crews work to fix a water main break on Historic 4th Street

SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) - Another water main break Friday has shut down a busy Sioux City intersection.

The break happened at 4th and Virginia around seven Friday morning.

While crews were able to fix the pipe quickly, the damage took its toll on the roadway.

"The actual break and water loss has caused some undermining of pavement so there's going to have to be an assessment of that pavement. Restorations are going to have to be done in the area to make sure that we can put that back together safely," said Jade Dundas, Public Works Director.

Officials say businesses near the break were not affected.

However, a detour has been set up while crews repair the roadway.
