NASA exhibit reminds students science is all around us

A new NASA exhibit at North High School called "Here, There, and Everywhere" helps bring physics to life.

It offers hands-on activities like showing the shape of speed as a boat is pulled through the water.

Along with these experiments that will be available to students anytime, teenagers also had a special opportunity to craft paper rockets Friday and then launch them in the school hallway.

"It just brings the concept home to kids that maybe might not be familiar with them. So, we're trying to expose them with some experiments, some hands-on, and some other information," Teacher/Librarian Chris Tomlinson said.

All students can take part in the activities and some teachers are offering extra credit for their students to get involved.

"It was really cool to see what we learned in class and actually do like real world stuff with like rockets," Junior Patrick Strait said.

Other special sessions will be available to students later this month like making wind turbines and working with the Sioux City Police Department to measure skid marks and see how fast drivers were going.
