Orange City, IA daycare provider charged with murder wants her trial moved

ORANGE CITY, Iowa (KTIV) An Orange City, Iowa daycare provider charged in the murder of a three-year girl wants her trial moved to another county.

33-year old Rochelle Sapp is charged with first-degree murder, and child endangerment resulting in death.  She has pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Medical examiners say that 3-year old Autumn Elgersma died of blunt force trauma.

Authorities say Sapp was Autumn's daycare provider.  Court documents show, Sapp told police she threw the girl to the floor when she refused to take off her coat.

Sapp's attorney has asked for a change of venue because, he claims, publicity of the case has been inaccurate, misleading or unfair.  The attorney went on to say the extensive publicity has put Sapp in a negative light, and believes there's a chance the jury pool has been tainted.

A judge has yet to decide what to do.
