SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) - The hockey playoffs start this weekend for the Musketeers. Sioux City will travel to Omaha for games one and two on Saturday and Sunday. The Muskies are the third seed out of the four teams in the Western Conference -- and the Lancers are the second seed.

Sioux City finished the regular season with a 38-19-3 record for the most wins they've had since the USHL went to the "Tier 1" level 12 years ago. The Muskies were 3 and 2 against Omaha this season but Sioux City says none of that matters anymore.

"One playoffs starts stats are out the window.  I don't think the record down there or the record in general really matters at all," Head Coach Jay Varady said. "It's about the here and the now and where we're at today as a group."

"We have to come to the rink and compete every day," forward Blake Heinrich added.  "I think we let one slip away from us at (Team) USA, but I think we played a lot better Saturday night against Youngstown.  We just have to bring it over now to the first game on Saturday."

"We know that we have a good chance to beat them," forward Adam Johnson said.  "We have a good team here, so we know we can do it."

They'll drop the puck for game one of the best-of-five series on Saturday night at 7:05. Game 2 on Sunday is also in Omaha at 5:05. Sioux City returns home Friday, April 18th for game three and also for game four, if necessary, on Saturday April 19th. The fifth game would be back in Omaha on Tuesday, April 22nd.

The series winner will play either top-seeded Waterloo or Sioux Falls in round two.
