Northwest Iowa woman changes plea in double homicide near Deloit, IA

DENISON, Iowa (KTIV) A northwest Iowa woman has pleaded guilty to charges, in exchange for her testimony in a double homicide near Deloit.

As part of the plea agreement, 36 year-old Erika Dains agreed to plead guilty to Burglary and Accessory after the Fact.  She could be sentenced up to 12 years for these charges.

As part of the agreement, Dains will truthfully testify against the two other defendants in the case.  If she fails to do this, the orginal charges of first-degree murder and arson can be re-filed.

The two other defendants, 19 year-old Jayden Chapman and 26 year-old Michael Schenk both face two counts of first degree murder and one count of arson.  Both have pleaded not guilty.  Chapman's trial is set for June.  Schenk's trial is scheduled for October.

Authorities say these charges all stem from a crime on March 10th, when the bodies of 80-year old Marvin Huesling and 81-year old Alice Huisenga were found after a fire in a trailer home on Milford Road outside Deloit, Iowa.
