Home-schooled students get to meet a famous author

SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) - A few home-schooled children got to meet a local celebrity Thursday at the Sioux City Public Library.

Jeanette Hopkins is a published author of "The Lady Bug Waltz" and "The Juggler"

She read to children as part of a learning program for the Home School Assistance Program which is part of the Sioux City Community School District.

"We're spreading our love of literacy and our love of the written word and hopefully encouraging children to not only to read but to write," said Jeanette Hopkins, Children's Author.

The Home School Assistance Program has been around for about 25 years and it serves around 160 students.
