Weather kills two in Northeast Nebraska crash

Winter isn't done with us yet. Snow accompanied by a wicked wind, whipped through much of Siouxland Saturday.

It's been blamed on multiple fender benders on I-29 around Sioux City, along with more serious crashes.

Multiple crews responded around three o'clock int he afternoon to a fatal two-car collision two miles east of Hoskins on Highway 35.

Rescue officials requested LifeNet, but the rescue helicopter couldn't fly to the scene because of the snowy conditions.

The Wayne County Sheriff's office said 85-year old Virlyn Lukens of Emerson lost control of his pick-up and was struck broadside by a vehicle driven by 45-year old Robbi Johnson of Norfolk.

Both Lukens and the passenger in his vehicle, 77-year old Marvel Lukens, also of Emerson, were killed in the crash.

Johnson's condition wasn't immediately made available.
