PIERRE, S.D. (KTIV) -South Dakota authorities are set to release details in the 1971 disappearance of two Vermillion teens.

17-year-olds Pam Jackson and Cheryl Miller were last seen on May 29th, 1971, driving a 1960 Studebaker Lark on their way to a party.

In September, a passerby spotted a car in the Brule Creek, near Union Grove State Park.

The car, and the license plate, match that of the one two teens were in when they disappeared.

After investigators pulled the car out of the creek, they meticulously pealed back the car to try and preserve the skeletal remains of two people found inside.

The remains were sent to the University of North Texas, where experts in mitochondrial DNA testing worked to identify them.

South Dakota's Attorney General, sheriffs from Clay and Union County, and the Union County States Attorney will discuss the results of forensic testing during a news conference, Tuesday afternoon, at 1:30pm, at the Union County courthouse, in Elk Point, South Dakota.
