USDA awards grants to NE Nebraska Educational Service Units

Educational Service Units in northeast Nebraska were recently awarded USDA grants to further their distance learning capabilities.

An award of nearly $300,000 in grant funding was given to upgrade distance learning equipment between 30 schools and Northeast Community College.

NECC is currently using technology with the various ESU schools for distance learning classes. "With the upgrade, this grant has allowed ESU #8 schools, #17 schools, and ESU #1 school, it's going to be a very seamless and very good quality connection," said Wayne Erickson, NECC Dean of Institutional Advancement.

ESU #8 includes schools in Antelope, Madison, Pierce, and Stanton counties in Nebraska. The USDA gave a total of $1.2-million in funding to ESU's across Nebraska.
