Woodbury Co. looks to further economic growth

Woodbury County's new economic development director gives supervisors an update on his goals. David Gleiser has been on the job for a few months now. He said he's been meeting with local leaders in several towns to talk about the future of the county. He told supervisors he's been getting a catalog of resources that are available as he works with communities toward attracting new businesses and creating jobs.

Work continues on CF Industries training center near Salix, IA plant

Woodbury County supervisors approved an underground utilities permit for construction of a new recruiting and training center for CF Industries on Port Neal Road. It's part of the company's massive expansion project near Salix, Iowa. CF officials say they have hired nearly 100 new permanent employees related to the project.

Bankrupt Plymouth County company purchased, set to open summer 2014

The former Plymouth Oil company has a new owner. Prairie Sun Foods bought the defunct operation for $3 million at a sheriff's sale on Tuesday. The property was expected to fetch more than $11 million. Prairie Sun plans to use the facility to make corn oil and corn flour. Plymouth Oil had planned to produce new corn products at the plant but went bankrupt.

Norfolk 101 Citizen's Academy: behind the scenes of city government

Nineteen Norfolk, Nebraska residents are the first to graduate from a new pilot program in town. The Norfolk 101 Citizen's Academy is an eight week course designed to show residents the inner workings of the city's government. Those in the class went through the different departments of the city including the waste water treatment plant, the housing and economic development division and the police and fire department. City officials said they are planning another Citizen's Academy this year.
