NSP consolidates dispatch centers; Move cuts 3 positions at Norfolk's Troop B Headquarters

NORFOLK, Neb. (KTIV/US92) - The Nebraska State Patrol is crediting cost savings and technological advances for their move to consolidates dispatch centers from six statewide to just three.

Deb Collins with the Nebraska State Patrol said that the consolidation will take place in three phases, with the first phase to move the dispatch operations for Troop B, based out of Norfolk, to the Patrol Headquarters in Lincoln in mid-May.

The move will affect a total of three full time positions in Norfolk.

Collins said that the consolidation will not affect the level of service from Patrol Troop B.

“We have been dispatching calls for service over night out of Troop B since January in preparation for the consolidation, and we currently are dispatching more than half the time, Troop B calls out of Headquarters Troop. So the transition is underway,” Deb Collins, spokesperson for the Nebraska State Patrol said.

Collins said that consolidating from six to three communications centers is expected to result in a cost savings of $750,000.
