Sioux City church celebrates Holy Week with Chrism Mass

SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) - This week is holy week, and one Sioux City church celebrated with a service to bless the oils they'll use during services.

It's called a Chrism Mass. And, it took place Wednesday at Saint Luke Lutheran Church in Sioux City.

Bishop Reverend Rodger Prois offered prayers for personnel and clergy in the western Iowa Synod. The bishop blessed the oils that will be used at baptisms at the Easter Vigil. "Our hope is that this will help feed them, nourish them, and support them as they go in to this week.  That they can remember that this is just not about the business of the church but this is what the church is really about. We are here to celebrate the good news of Jesus Christ," said Bishop Reverend Rodger Prois, Western Iowa Synod (ELCA).

The Bishop also renewed the vows of the clergy that were there.
