Construction work is in full swing at the Hard Rock site in downtown Sioux City. Workers are on the job seven days a week.
"You can see on the outside, there's probably not as much done as you may think from a paving perspective, but that will all kick in now that the weather's warmed up. And, we've kind of focused on the inside of the building, and are moving along really well," Sioux City Entertainment President Bill Warner said.
Despite some challenges to construction during the winter months, Warner and those working down at the site say construction is still on schedule.
"I've been working on this project four months now. The job is rolling. It's going just fine. The wiring, they're probably like halfway through, the computer floors like three quarters through, framing almost done on the job, we're doing some drywall work and some miscellaneous stuff, but it's going to come in on time," Union Carpenter Jay Prokupek said.
Hard Rock reps said they've used a lot of Siouxland subcontractors and vendors.
"We're going to continue that through the opening and really focus in on Iowa based companies, Siouxland based companies to do business with because obviously we believe that working the local community is a top priority," Warner said.
Hard Rock expects the casino to be open by summer. No exact date has been set yet for the opening.
