Northwestern softball sweep Peru State 1-0, 7-6

SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) - Northwestern swept Peru State 1-0 and 7-6 in non-conference softball action Friday in Orange City improving to 28-16 on the season.

In game one Keely Bracelin limited the Bobcats to just two hits, earning the complete game shutout.  She also struck out seven.

Scoreless in the bottom of the fifth inning, Kara Nonnemacher singled home Allison Herbert to plae the only run of the game.

In game two, the two squads combined for 19 hits, but it was Northwestern hanging on for a dramatic 7-6 victory.

After jumping out to a 6-1 lead, Peru State battled back scoring three in the fifth to pull within 6-4.

The Red Raiders picked up a much needed win the 6th to give themselves a four run cushion.

Peru State didn't go down without a fight.  Pulling within 7-6 in the top of the seventh, Northwestern was able to stop the rally to preserve the win.
