Jamal Dean to have separate trial from alleged co-conspirators in drug case

A federal judge has ordered separate trials for three Sioux City residents charged with robbing drug dealers.

One of the defendants, 22-year-old Jamal Dean, is currently serving a 25-year sentence for attempted murder in the shooting of Sioux City Police officer Kevin McCormick.

Friday, a judge granted the requests made by attorneys representing Dean, his brother Levon, and Sarah Berg.

The three were to have been tried together on May 12th.
