Cody Gradert anchors Unity Christian to a win in the 4x800 meter relay Monday in Orange City.
ORANGE CITY, Iowa (KTIV) -
The first full day of the Drake Relays is Thursday in Des Moines. Siouxland athletes finally got some good weather to compete in at the Knight Relays in Orange City, hosted by Unity Christian. A very windy afternoon made conditions difficult to compete in.
In the boys discus, Western Christian's Ethan Fenchel chucked it 176-feet 9-inches to win the event.
In the boys 4x800 relay, Cody Gradert anchored the host Knights to victory in 9-minutes and 4-seconds.
In the Class A Shuttle Hurdle Relay, Sioux Center's Dylan Vant'Hof and the Warriors set a new meet record clocking in at 59 seconds.
In the Class B 100 meter dash, West Lyon's Kyle Groenenweg narrowly edged Blake Mossberg from Hinton to win in 11 seconds.
In the 400 meters, Class B division, George Little Rock's Jesse Henrichs tops Beck Green of Sibley-Ocheydan by two-tenths of a second, 52-seconds was the winning time.
In Class A, Le Mars' Levi Tebrink took the 400 crown clocking in at 51-seconds flat.
"Well, it changes how you run (the 400)," Tebrink said. "You have to keep in mind you need to have something left for that last 100 because you have the wind going against you. So, you save a little for the end."
