Teal Jennings joined the EMMY-winning Today In Iowa newscast, along with anchoring duties for the KWWL News at Noon, on April 30, 2014.
A native of Mason City (where her parents still reside), Jennings began her career in news right here in eastern Iowa and was on the front lines in reporting on the devastating floods of 2008, as well as the historic immigration raid on the Agriprocessors plant in Postville.
Jennings comes to KWWL most recently from financial reporting with Bloomberg Television in Chicago.
“I’m thrilled to be returning to eastern Iowa,” Jennings said. “Being there with people as they start their days and take their lunch breaks is something I really enjoy. It’s a responsibility I take seriously as well. I like having my day start off right, and enjoy my mid-day, so I owe to the people watching me to make sure their day goes right as well.”
Jennings holds a master's degree in journalism from Columbia University. Growing up, she spent time as a competitive figure skater, and still enjoys getting out on the ice.
Always active, Jennings has run in one marathon and two half-marathons. In her free time, she enjoys cheering on the Hawkeyes, spending some quality time with her Yorkie, Tex, and sipping a good strong cup of coffee.
