Woodbury County will meet to go over amendments to its budget
SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) When it comes to setting the budget, Woodbury County plans three months before the fiscal year even starts. That's why it's important they take another look.
County leaders will be meeting in May to amend the budget for the second time for this fiscal year. They will talk about unplanned items that came up like new revenues that came in to the county, mental health enhancements, federal overtime, and employee turn over.
This will ensure they don't spend more than they have.
"Usually it's a catch all for unanticipated revenues and expenditures during the fiscal year that were not budgeted last budget hearing clear back last year in 2013," Finance and Operations Controller Dennis Butler said.
Butler says they could be dealing with $1 million in budget amendments, but he emphasizes those changes will not increase taxes.
