Hard Rock says goal is to create an "entertainment destination" in Sioux City

SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) -

Even though, an opening date hasn't been released yet for the city's newest casino, Sioux City Entertainment's President and CEO Bill Warner said it will be sometime this summer and there are lots of surprises in store.

Once construction is complete, Warner said they plan to bring in all different kinds of entertainers to Siouxland.

He said their goal is to make the Hard Rock more than just a casino.

Along with the gaming options, there will be several restaurants and 54 hotel rooms.

He said their plans have only improved since they began construction.

"I think we made it a little bit better. It still really is focused on being an entertainment destination with a casino versus just a casino, so really looking at the amenities, looking at the entertainment, looking at the hotel as being central focus points for the property and really creating something unique," Warner said.

To create this unique experience, Warner said they'll be looking to hire the majority of their employees closer to the opening.

He said, so far they've seen a mix of applicants from the Siouxland area and beyond. Warner said the employment center will be open shortly and it'll be located in the MidAmerican building across the street.

Some slot machines have already been delivered, Warner said they expect the rest to come in through the month of May, and when it comes tables, he says they should be on their way soon too.
