Road project hits bump in northeast Nebraska

MADISON, Neb. (KTIV/US92) - A proposed road project for one northeast Nebraska town is being put on hold.

A mile-long portion of Nebraska Highway 32 running through the city of Madison has been on the Department of Roads to do list for several years.

The NDOR was hoping to get the project started this spring, but is delaying construction after receiving only one bid, which was over the engineer's estimation.

Department of Roads officials say there were concerns of fitting the construction around the Madison County Fair and completing the project in one construction season.

Kevin Domogalla, NDOR District 3 Engineer says, "Currently we are looking it over. Revamping the schedule that is spelled out in our specifications. Giving the contractor a little bit more leeway a little more flexibility in their schedule."

According to the Department of Roads, the project is going to take roughly 105 working days to complete.

NDOR plans on rebidding the project in June, with the hope to start repaving the road later this summer.
