Hard Rock says its new hotel and casino will be a great fit for Siouxland

SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) - Since the groundbreaking for the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino back in August, there has been a tremendous amount of progress. Casino officials said the cards are in their favor.

"What's going on at Tyson and the Orpheum, being a part of that, and building a property that complements what is already in Sioux City and working successfully, I think it's a great fit," Sioux City Entertainment CEO and President Bill Warner said.

Warner said he's pleased with how the progress is going and said the plans have improved since they began construction.

"I think we made it a little bit better. It's still focused on being an entertainment destination with a casino, versus just a casino," Warner said.

The "entertainment destination" in downtown Sioux City will have 54 hotel rooms, three restaurants, and an entertainment venue called "Anthem," that will also serve food.

"It's a pretty good sized facility once you get in there and start walking around. I think it's going to meet your expectations," Warner said.

When it comes to living up to the Hard Rock brand, Warner said they plan to do just that.

"There's going to be a large guitar on the roof of the building, absolutely. I think it's going to be very tastefully done. I think it's going to be a great sign. I think it's effectively going to be the signature element of the Hard Rock as you see Hard Rocks around the country," Warner said.

And, with Hard Rock's ever-recognizable guitar perched on top of the building, Warner said it will act as a beacon drawing in visitors to the city.

Even though, an official opening date hasn't been set yet, Warner said they plan to line up some great entertainment and throw a big party sometime this summer.
