Judge orders murder trial of Rochelle Sapp to be moved from Sioux to Carroll County, IA

ORANGE CITY, Iowa (KTIV) A judge has ordered the murder trial of Rochelle Sapp to be moved to Carroll County, Iowa.

33 year-old Rochelle Sapp of Orange City, Iowa is charged with first-degree murder and child endangerment resulting in death.

Authorities say Sapp was an in-home day care provider for three-year old Autumn Elgersma.  In October, they say Elgersma refused to take her coat off, and Sapp threw her to the floor.  Elgersma died a few days later at a hospital.

Sapp's attorney requested the change of venue from Sioux County, saying extensive media coverage of the case prevents her from getting a fair trial.  Prosecutors agreed to the change.

A trial date has not been set.
