DENISON, Iowa (KTIV) -

Folks in Denison took a step toward ending child abuse, Saturday.

The Bubba Shuffle at Yellow Smoke Park raised money in honor of an Iowa boy who was abused at a care facility in 2009.

Aaron Bubba Brown was left with bruises, a black eye, and other injuries.  Now 19, the race was organized to give a voice to those like Bubba, who are unable to speak for themselves.

One-hundred people raised nearly $3,500.

That money stays in Siouxland, benefiting Mercy Medical Center's Child Advocacy program.
