IOWA CITY, Iowa (KTIV) - The 15 spring practices are over for the Hawkeye football team. Now, Iowa can turn their attention to the fall -- when the games count.

There aren't many questions on offense, with eight starters back. They still need to find two new starters in the offensive line and one at wide receiver. Returning starting quarterback Jake Rudock only played the first half and completed 13 of 24 passes for 179 yards against the starting defense as fifteen different players had receptions.

"The biggest thing is just making the team better.  That's what on my mind right now. How we can make the team better," Quarterback Jake Rudock said.  "That's the most important thing. If the team can improve overall, then hopefully we'll be able to get more wins."

"You know the potential is sky high," Running back Damon Bullock added.  "We're ready to go.  Who ever is in the backfield, quarterback or running back, we're going to make plays."

The defense will have at least five new starters, including three new linebackers. All in all, it was a successful spring for the Hawkeyes.

"I'm anxious.  It's been three years playing behind three great guys," linebacker Quinton Alston said.  "I'm just excited to get out there and be that senior leader, the go-to-guy and make sure these young guys progress the way they should."

Iowa's opener is August 30th against Northern Iowa.
