SIOUX CITY (KTIV) - An excavator crashes through the foundation of a store near Sioux City's downtown.

At about 10:30 Tuesday morning, the large excavator broke through a weak spot in the foundation during demolition work at the old Hy-Vee Drug Store at 27th and Pierce.

A worker drove over a spot where a crawl space used to be beneath the floors of the store and because of the weakened support, the excavator lost balance, breaking through the floor.

The excavator was stuck at an odd angle in the floors, and extra crews were on hand to help pull the excavator back out.

No one was hurt in the accident.

According to crews, the issue should be fairly simple to fix and demolition should be proceeding as normal before the end of the day.
