Buena Vista's Scott Harris has been named the Iowa Conference Pitcher of the Week.
STORM LAKE, Iowa (KTIV) -
Buena Vista starting pitcher Scott Harris turned in a career performance in game two against Wartburg on Friday evening, and for his efforts has been named this week's Iowa Conference Pitcher of the Week.
Harris, a native of Grimes, Iowa, allowed just an unearned run on five hits over 8.1 innings in a 4-1 win against the Knights, while striking out a career-best 13 batters. That strikeout total is also the most by any hurler in the IIAC this season.
The win moved Harris to 4-0 in conference play this season and 6-0 overall. His 13 K's also moved him into second in the league with 43 strikeouts against IIAC foes. This marks the second time this season that Harris has earned such recognition.
Buena Vista avoided its first two-game losing skid of the season with the victory and improves to 27-9 (18-6 IIAC) on the year. The Beavers hold a one-game lead over the Knights in the IIAC standings with only a four-game series remaining against Loras College this weekend.
Friday's doubleheader in Storm Lake is scheduled to get underway at 3:30pm.
