South Sioux City Council approves two additions to fire budget

SOUTH SIOUX CITY, Nebraska (KTIV) - Two more jobs and a big construction project for the fire department in South Sioux City, Nebraska, after the city council unanimously approved paying for both.

The construction project will revamp fire hall one, making it suitable for a new fire truck so the department doesn't have to custom order a smaller, more expensive truck.

Construction won't begin until 2015 or 2016, and is estimated to cost about two million dollars.

The two new employees will be an increase of about 85 thousand dollars a piece for the fire department.

Council member Bruce Davis says the city will begin advertising the positions as soon as possible.
