Woodbury County reviews bids for new road leading to CF Industries site

Woodbury County's biggest project came up at Tuesday's supervisor meeting.

It will be the county's responsibility to hire a company to pave a portion of a road that will be called "CF Drive" when the CF Industries' plant expansion is complete. Right now, all you can see off 255th Street is a grassy area and a chain link fence where the road will eventually be.

The county's engineer Mark Nahra opened up bids from companies that would like to grade this new road, that will be called CF Drive. "This is going to be the public portion of the CF plant road. We'll be building the road back to where the new gate is for the north fertilizer plant," Woodbury Co. Engineer Mark Nahra said.

Bids ranged from about $525,000 to $634,000.

The county typically awards the lowest bidder that's qualified to do the work, but Nahra said before that's finalized, he needs to go through to make sure the numbers add up.

Nahra expects grading to start June 1.
