Local group seeks to help people recover from their addictions

SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) The SOBER Project is a 12 step faith based program that was founded by Larry Munguia in Tucson, AZ 10 years ago.

S.O.B.E.R stands for Service, Obedience, Bonding, Education, and Relationship. The group uses the 12 step recovery bible.  This is not an anonymous meeting.  They believe you are coming out of the worst time of your life and this should be the best time of your life. You should be celebrating. You should not be ashamed for who you are or where you were.

In the past year, the Tri-State SOBER Project was created to serve people in Nebraska, South Dakota, and Iowa.

There is a Meet and Greet event at Friendship Community Church in Sioux City.  It's set for Friday, May 2nd at 6:30 pm. Larry Munguia will speak at this event and the SOBER Project has changed things within the community.
