A special anniversary for the Welcome Home program

SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) - A special anniversary was held Thursday for the Welcome Home program.

The program aims to get the homeless families of Siouxland off the streets and into a long term home.

This program operated by the Community Action Agency of Siouxland is now in it's third year.

In that time, nearly 80 families have found a home.

It is a 90-day program which gives families a safe placement while providing services to get them back on their feet.

A special surprise was revealed to long time supporter Marvin Berenstein.

A garden was dedicated to him.

"I had absolutely no idea about that I was truly touched.  This has really been a labor of love and the people that have participated have been very gracious," said Marvin Berenstein.

The Community Action Agency of Siouxland relies of donations and grants to help those in need.
