Body found under Ida County, IA bridge

The Ida County Sheriff's Office is investigating the death of a man whose body was found beneath a bridge Thursday afternoon. The man was found with a gunshot wound to the head. The sheriff said foul play is not suspected, but they are investigating. The man is described as white and in his mid-20's. The body has been sent to the State Medical Examiner's office for an autopsy.

UPDATED: Late ending for state lawmakers in Des Moines, Iowa

Iowa Senators will be back for one more vote Friday morning. Senate Democrats intend to pass a resolution granting subpoena power to the Senate oversight committee, but Republicans resisted, so no debate could be held Thursday. Senate Majority Leader, Mike Gronstal, adjourned the session until 8:00 Friday morning, when a vote will be held and the session adjourned. The House adjourned Thursday.

Sneak peek at progress of Hard Rock Hotel and Casino

We're getting a look inside the new Hard Rock Hotel and Casino is taking shape in downtown Sioux City. General Manager, Todd Moyer, took KTIV on a guided tour of the construction site. The gaming floor will have 800 slot machines and 25 table games. There's also Anthem, the 850-seat concert venue. Two restaurants are in the works and inside the historic Battery Building is the hotel. Moyer said they remain on schedule for a summer opening.

Multicultural fair gives Unity elementary students a taste of heritage

A cultural lesson for some Sioux City students. A multicultural fair at Unity Elementary School gave students a look at 14 heritages. The students learned about the different ethnic backgrounds of their peers through dancing, food, and presentations. Teachers said it gives kids the chance to learn about their own roots, too. The fair was presented in conjunction with Sioux City's Tolerance Week, which remembers the Holocaust during World War II.
