Spring Sprint takes place in northeast Nebraska

WAYNE, Neb. (KTIV/US92) - Special needs students from 14 northeast Nebraska schools took part in the 3rd annual Northeast Nebraska Spring Sprint Friday afternoon.

More than 60 students participated in events ranging from dashes, walks, softball throw and standing long jump.

Event organizers say everyone who competed in activities this afternoon brought home a trophy, which is an outstanding thing for the athletes.

Jane Arens, "Spring Sprint" organizer says,"The joy in their eyes to come back with a trophy, and to show their classmates "look at what I got, look how well I did"it's just worth it."

Organizers says they are always looking for old trophies for this event. If you have some old awards you would like to donate, contact Educational Services Unit One in Wayne, Nebraska at (402) 375-3005
