SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) - The weather in Siouxland has been less than tropical this spring, but an "island escape" took place in South Sioux City, Neb. Saturday.

Bishop Heelan Catholic Schools supporters donned tropical clothing at a fundraiser Saturday at the Marina Inn.

The evening included a silent and live auction, dinner and dancing with a live band.

It's the catholic schools' largest fundraiser of the year, with the proceeds going towards the school system's classroom needs and technologies.

"It's a great event where we come together to celebrate educating our children with faith and values and academic excellence and discipline," said auction coordinator Janet Flanagan. "It's just an incredible evening."

Fitting in with the tropical theme, among the items up for auction were a hot tub and a tiki lemonade stand.
