Denison, IA hospital administrator searching for new site for dialysis center

The administrator at a hospital in Denison, Iowa, will need to find a new site for a planned dialysis center. A federal agency said the building didn't meet one of its requirements.

Crawford County Memorial Hospital CEO Bill Bruce said the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services requires a ceiling height of at least 7' 10" in the facility. The dialysis center, which would be operated by Fresenius, was set to go in the basement of Denison's City Center Clinic. But, the ceiling there is just over 7' high, which is below the CMS requirement.

Bruce shared the news with the hospital's board, and it asked him to find a suitable facility. Bruce says he plans to bring alternatives to the board within a month or two.
