NEAR SHELDON, Iowa (KTIV) - There's new information surrounding a bad accident between a semi and a tractor in northwest, Iowa.

Both drivers were flown to a hospital in Sioux Falls.

The collision happened Tuesday morning on Highway 60 about one mile south of Sheldon.

Investigators say 56-year-old David Goosen from Paullina was on his farm tractor when it was hit from behind by a semi driven by 39-year-old Jason Beckman from Omaha.

Both men were thrown from their vehicles.

Beckman was in critical condition Tuesday.  An update on Goosen wasn't available.

Damage to both vehicles totaled almost $300,000.

Previous story:
NEAR SHELDON, Iowa (KTIV) - Two drivers were airlifted to a Sioux Falls, South Dakota hospital after a semi trailer driver hit the back of a tractor. The accident on Highway 60 morning temporarily shut down one of the two lanes just south of Sheldon, Iowa. Officers on scene said their best guess was that the semi rear-ended the tractor, causing both to lose control.

The tractor lost the load it was pulling, and collided with the cab of the semi trailer.

Authorities said the injuries were serious.

"There were two victims involved in the accident, both transported to Sheldon Hospital and then airlifted from there. At this time, we're still working on the road, trying to get it open because of the large machinery that's involved," Sioux County Deputy Nate Huizenga said.

No word yet on the condition of the drivers but Deputy Huizenga said the families of both drivers had been notified.
