Naked man tazed by police after wielding a samurai sword
QUINCY, Ill. (WGEM) -
Quincy police say an officer was forced to taze a naked man after he started swinging a samurai sword at bystanders.
Lt. Jason Simmons says officers were called to a residence in the 300 block of South 10th Street around 10:30 a.m. after receiving a report of a mentally disturbed naked man in his yard. When the first officer arrived, the man went into his home and came back out with a samurai sword. The man then started swinging the sword at bystanders in the area.
The officer then tazed the man to get him to calm down. Once backup arrived, the man was taken into custody.
The man was then taken to Blessing Hospital for treatment.
No one was injured during the incident. Simmons says no charges are anticipated at this time.
