Northeast Community College will move forward with new residence halls

Posted:

NORFOLK, Neb. (KTIV/US92)  The Northeast Community College Board of Governors took a major step towards improving its campus in Norfolk, Nebraska.

The board approved a resolution, allowing college president Dr. Michael Chipps to move forward on issuing up to $12 million in revenue bonds for the construction of new residence halls.

"It's approximately 200-bed residence hall facility, again not to exceed $12 million, includes the furnishings for that facility," said Lynne Koski, V.P. Administrative Services Northeast Community College

The board said that such bond funding would allow the college to provide reasonable room and board rates for students living on campus.

College officials say that the new dorms will be ready for students in early 2016.
