Hatch wants state's economic development program focused on current Iowa businesses

Democrat Jack Hatch wants to change the way Iowa does business.  He says the state wastes too much money luring outside companies that don't need the financial help.

He says if elected Governor, he'll reinvest that money into existing businesses instead.

"I'd rather put Iowa resources into Iowa communities and help existing businesses grow. I'm not going to send my economic development director all over the world to try to find a good deal here or a good deal there, to bring them in. The reason we would travel would be to expand exports of Iowa companies,” Hatch explained.

Hatch says his community-driven economic development plan would be emphasized by public-private partnerships.
