South Sioux's Budget Host Inn becomes safety concern for city council

South Sioux City's taking action on a motel, authorities say it's hurting the safety of the community.

The owners of the Budget Host Inn didn't show up to Monday night's City Council meeting to discuss what steps to take to make things safer.

Last, year police responded to 186 calls to the business.

Council members say they're taking the safety concerns surrounding the motel very seriously.

They say all those 911 calls take police crews away from the rest of town.

Although some improvement have been made, the council says it's not near enough.

"We need to assure the public that either they're going to change their process of who could live there and take care of that matter and also I think council is going to have to decide if that business can stay," said Lance Hedquist, South Sioux City City Administrator.

The city will be presented legal advice on what to do next at the next city council meeting in two weeks.
