High-performing west students spent the last part of the school day outside Tuesday.
SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) -
Students at West High had a chance to earn an incentive for their hard work this quarter in the form of fun.
Select students earned an hour in the sun Tuesday to play games and socialize.
To qualify, students had to achieve a 3.0 grade point average for the quarter, with no attendance or behavioral issues.
As the school year winds down, it's a nice break from all the end-of-the-year chaos.
"I think it's very important because I've put a lot of hard work into the school system," said West senior Ashton Arroyo.
"Towards the end of the year, it's nice to have something like this to tell us we did a good job and to tell us, 'you're almost there and you're almost done'," said West senior Rachael Sims. "'Just keep working because you deserve this.'"
Three hundred fifty students earned the time outside today, an increase of 150 from the third quarter.
