33rd Annual National Peace Officers' Memorial Day Services are held in Washington D.C.

WASHINGTON (KTIV) - President Barack Obama has declared Thursday as Peace Officers Memorial Day.

This week also is designated as National Police Week, and Thursday morning, a Peace Officers Memorial service was held on the west lawn of the U.S. capitol.

Later, a wreath was laid at the memorial in honor of fallen officers.

KTIV's Matt Breen is in Washington covering this week's events.

He's at Thursday morning's Memorial Service being held on the West Front of the United States Capitol in Washington, D.C. at 10 a.m.
