SIOUX CITY (KTIV) - Another move Thursday in an effort to keep the Argosy Casino open.
The Belle of Sioux City has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in federal court.
Documents show the Belle also requested an expedited hearing, which they were granted.
That hearing is set for tomorrow at 1 p.m. eastern in Reading, Pennsylvania.
Along with the bankruptcy filing, Belle is asking the judge keep the casino open until the lawsuit is resolved in the case which would put the Iowa Racing and Gaming Commissions latest license denial on hold.
Belle says that without a court stay of the IRGC's April 17 ruling, irreparable injury would be caused to the company and its 280 employees.
The Argosy has already notified workers it may have to close on July 1.
The land-based Hard Rock Casino is slated to open in Downtown Sioux City this summer.
