SOUTH SIOUX CITY, NE (KTIV) - Big Brothers Big Sisters of Siouxland wants people to "start something" for young people in our community.

The Start Something luncheon Thursday in South Sioux City, Neb. featured speakers that told people about all the programs within Big Brothers Big Sisters.

The organization currently has a wait list of about 40 children, with a particular need for male mentors.

Executive director Rocky Welker hopes that seeing the program's success will show people the impact they can make.

"Anytime you can see something face-to-face and see the real-life impact that it's having, it's something that sticks with you," said executive director Rocky Welker. "I think people can take that away and see the positive impact that the program has the potential to have."

Big Brothers Big Sisters currently has about 215 matches.
