A livestock semitrailer loaded with hogs ends up on its side in the median of Highway 75 and authorities said distracted driving is to blame.
It happened around 4:00 Wednesday morning near Hinton, Iowa. The truck driver told police he was reaching for a bottle of pop on the floor when he lost control. As he attempted to correct himself, the trailer began to roll on its side taking the tractor with it.
The semi tipped onto its side in the median. The driver was buckled in and was not hurt, but a number of hogs were killed and the semi was totaled. The driver is charged with failure to maintain control of a vehicle.
The crash forced northbound traffic on Highway 75 to be detoured onto county roads for a while.
