SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) -
The St. Paul Saints completed a three game sweep of the Sioux City Explorers on Wednesday night, winning 8-5.
Sioux City rallied from a 2-1 deficit with four runs in the third inning. Mark Sobolewski, Tommy Mendonca and Luke Murton had RBI hits in the inning to give the X's a 5-2 lead.
St. Paul answered with two run in the fourth, sixth and ninth innings to provide the final margin and improve to 6-1 on the young season. Sioux City falls to 2-5. Each team had nine hits.
Patrick Johnson suffered the pitching loss for Sioux City, giving up the go-ahead runs in the sixth inning. Johnson threw four innings in relief of Sioux City starter Geoff Broussard, who gave up four runs in the first four innings.
The Amarillo Sox, of Texas, will make their first-ever trip to Lewis and Clark Park on Thursday for the start of a four game series. That game starts at 7:05 PM.
