Siouxlanders shred confidential documents for free

SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) - In an effort to prevent seniors from becoming victims of identity theft, some Siouxlanders are taking their documents to the shredder.

The Connections Area Agency on Aging held it's "Shred-Tastic" day in Sioux City. Items that could be shredded include, bank statements, credit card billings, and other documents containing personal information. "I expect by the time we finish, we are going to be close to 2-thousand pounds that will no only be taking that information off the streets but also be recycled in an environmentally friendly manner" said Chris Kuchta, Coordinator.

Besides shredding, seniors also brought back their old prescriptions to be thrown away by the Sioux City Police Department.
