SERGEANT BLUFF, Iowa (KTIV) - Jobs have been cut at a Sergeant Bluff company. 150 employees at Stream learned their current position will no longer exist by the end of July.
Representatives from Convergys, the parent company of Stream, say that a client has made a decision to move one of their programs away from the Sergeant Bluff facility. While it wasn't a performance-based decision, it still means 150 people's jobs are in jeopardy.
Convergys, and Stream's location in Sergeant Bluff, handle customer support for several companies. The Convergys offices are located all over the globe, and the company employs 125 thousand people.
Officials with Convergys say that they regret the client's decision to move their support program to another location and away from Sergeant Bluff, but that there's no reason to think the other jobs at Stream are going anywhere. "Lots of different clients from all sorts of different verticals are supported at that location. So this is just one program out of many programs and several clients," Brooke Beiting, Convergys media relations specialist said.
Officials do say that all employees in jeopardy of losing their jobs have the option to apply for jobs at Converges' other facilities.
closest location to Sergeant Bluff is in Omaha.
However, Convergys officials say they also have work-from-home jobs available.
