Republican candidate for governor stops in South Sioux City

SOUTH SIOUX, Neb. (KTIV) - The Republican candidate for governor in Nebraska made a stop in South Sioux City Friday morning.

Pete Ricketts says he plans to grow the state, especially through agriculture.

"It's our most important industry.  It's the heart and soul of what we do. Twenty-five percent of our folks are in it and it drives our economy. I'll continue driving around the state.  I put 24,000 miles on. I'll continue to drive around talking to folk. Those miles are not just in Omaha and Lincoln they are all around the state," said Pete Ricketts, candidate for Governor.

Ricketts stopped at the College Center for the South Sioux Chamber's coffee hour.

Ricketts also says he would work well with both the governors of Nebraska and South Dakota.

Ricketts heads into the November general election against Democrat Chuck Hassebrook as a big favorite.

Hassebrook from Lyons is the former director of the Nebraska Center for Rural Affairs.
